  • Ten percent of elderly over 65 cut back on medications or food in 2006 because of cost.
  • Three quarters of the elderly who cut back on food or medications did not receive any public assistance.
  • Seniors who are in poor health or have a hard time getting around are much more likely to cut back on food or medications, regardless of how well-off they are.
