(UM06-01) - Enhancing the Quality of Data on Income and Wealth
F. Thomas Juster, Daniel H. Hill, Honggao Cao and Michael Perry
Data quality is an issue of longstanding concern to researchers
interested in wealth accumulation. This proposal summarizes work done
on some simple survey extensions—innovations that may significantly
improve the quality of household economic data. An important extension
is the use of follow-up brackets. This work will address problems that
arise with the use of brackets that introduce bias into the
measurement of wealth. The project will utilize previously tested
methods to address these problems and suggest solutions.
